Here's the latest:
the assumption is that I can't build HTML::FormatText because I don't
have YAML.
I can't build YAML because I don't have 'make'. I"m guessing that not
having 'make' is the real reason for not being able to build
FormatText.
In order to get the make command you have to register as a developer,
download a near 800Mb file and run the 15 min installer.
Now that I have all the pieces assembled, I still can't build YAML

I've just bounced the Squeezecenter server in case it magically fixed stuff
and it didn't.
I know you guys are working hard at delivering a kick ass system, but you
might want to re-think your pre-requisites list - asking the average home user
to register as an Apple developer and play with the Terminal is not a road to
true success.
