An update is due soon (it's already submitted to Apple since Monday) but I don't see why that should not work, it has always worked for me. But If you look at the developer forum, there's currently a bug report (I could not check that, have to get home first) against Baby that remote volume control seems to be overridden by the device itself, could it be that?
