I don't have a hardware player, I am testing this before I shell out
the money for one; although I am already at the stage that it works well
enough for me to go ahead and get one, being able to stream BBC is
important for the decision.

I am testing the stream with vlc player on windows over the wireless
network, and I have also tested Amarok (xine) and vlc on the linux box,
pointing at localhost. They all work fine, i.e. stream the
http:ip.ad.dre.ss:9000/stream.mp3.

No hardware player, but I did try to enable bit rate limiting in the
settings -> Advanced -> Network -> Maximum WMA Stream Bitrate page to
64kbs as per another thread, if that's the same thing? It had no
effect.

They are:
Windows Media -> Flac = "mplayer.sh/flac"
Windows Media = "native"

WMAlossless and WMApro are also "native"

Thanks for thinking about it,

Cheers
