I tested Inguz running on a VertexBox here. I was easy to install and
it seems to be running OK. I don't know enough about it to test it.

I also built BruteFIR for VortexBox. I read that that it is a much
faster algorithm. 

As for green PCs we use ATOM based PCs. The one we use draws lest the
25 watts. If you need more processing power you need a "Socket P" core 2
chip. It draws about 25 watts just for the chip but has the power of a
regular Core 2.
