Hi pippin,
I also have a question about the artwork caching.
I had understood that the artwork is cached during startup of iPeng, so
for the first time connection to a new server this takes some minutes
(for my ~250 album database). When I connect with iPeng for the second
time to the same server and I select albums, I expected that the artwork
from the albums comes from the cache on the ipod touch, and the display
of it should not depend on the server speed.
I noticed however that when I use the Sheevaplug as server, each time I
start iPeng and want to display albumart, it takes about 13 seconds
before they show up, while using my laptop as server, this is within 2
seconds. So the server speed does matter apparently. (btw, I followed
your suggestion above to set artwork resizing option and the 13s went
down to 7s.). When I 'wakeup' the ipod with iPeng still running, all
albumart displays immediately without time lag.
Could you explain why server speed is still having an effect on the
display of the albumart, even when this is cached on the ipod?
I would like to add, that apart from this delay at the startup, iPeng
works well and fast with the Sheevaplug.

Regards, stroom
