Ah, OK. Now that I understand this, I don't think I'd use the phrase "datafeed isn't clear". It is quite clear - 'icon' represents the complete weather conditions or forecast while 'skyicon' only represents cloud cover. I would suggest that, except for aviation uses, the 'skyicon' is mostly irrelevant and that your applet should display only the 'icon'.
