It was installed through the plugins tab. And I see you have the exact same settings link as i have, so that's good for me so far. Yes, commenting out line 37 makes the settings link work, and makes the spotify plugin show up under Settings > Advanced, so the problem would seem to be something going wrong around there (on line 35?).
