Don't know about the other apps but I haven't had an issue with
Rhapsody.  I can add single tracks or albums pretty easily.  Maybe I
don't understand the issue you raise but I can get the same behavior
from my local tracks (iTunes) and Rhapsody (which I use extensively). 
I'm not at my player now but from memory I can add a single track by
context menue or by selecting the track.  I can also add an album by
context menu or by clicking on the album.  Maybe you are refering to
some other issue; if so, then disregard.
