No, iPeng never caches the cover art for NowPlaying. It just changes too often to be worthwhile. Although... The server should still cache it.
But if you switch players there is also something else going on that puts a bit of load on the server and that is loading of the current playlist. For some reason that is incredibly slow in SBS which is one reason why iPeng doesn't cache it for all players. 7.6 has new artwork handling which has indeed had some trouble with scaling in the past, I wonder whether something might be broken again. Will check, yet it's the SBS version I also use most of the time and I haven't had any trouble recently.
