Sorry, reading back I was babbling rather!
What I was after was to have whitebear on my 2003 server exposing the library and the squeezeboxes as DNLA devices. I then want to have the shared library visible on both my phone (Nokia N79) and laptop (Vista). I want to be able to browse the library on my phone and play any tune to any renderer (squeezebox or phone). I also want to be able to download tunes from the library to my phone and use the sync function of the phone to automatically download playlists. Basically the moon on a stick! Whitebear gets me very close. The only issues are that the library is not visible in Vista's wmp and that the phone's auto-sync feature doesn't work. Using the phone as a 'play-to' controller to play to the squeezeboxes works fine as does manual download of tracks to the phone for playing offline. My original trouble-shooting was with TVersity which was browsable in Vista (yay) but not through my phone (boo). It seems that not all DLNA devices are created equal!! I have sinse found a way to install the XP version of wmp11 onto 2003 and use this to share the library and this is fully browsable both from Vista and my phone as well as supporting the phone's auto-sync function. Perfect except that wmp doesn't expose the squeezeboxes as renderers so I am currently sharing the library out twice - once through whitebear (to exposes the SB's) and once via wmp (for compatibility with my devices). Is it possible to configure whitebear so that it is exposing the squeezeboxes as renderers but not sharing the library out? This would be ideal for me (and possibly others who use another DNLA server but want to use the squeezeboxes as renderers) as I could then choose a song from the wmp library and play it anywhere via whitebear. Currently having the same library exposed twice isn't a problem but it is ugly. Obviously, the ideal ideal solution would be to figure out why some servers work while others don't. I'm clueless about the technicalities of DNLA but if there's any info or logs you would like then I'm happy to oblige. I'm mightily impressed with whitebear and the ability to stream music from my phone straight to a SB!! -- indifference_engine 2xReceiver, 2xController, 1xSB3, 2xSqueezeSlave, SBS 7.5.3 Inventor of SqueezeIR applet for the Controller ------------------------------------------------------------------------ indifference_engine's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20698 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80632 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
