That's a side effect of the bug and only happens whenever iPeng is
still running in the background, which in this version is sometimes
does for up to 10 minutes. Which is also part of the same bug.
It's all one thing permeating through a few levels of trouble.... And
all of this only to fix a minor issue for some people. Makes you learn
about the importance of regression testing.

That's, btw, an explanation for the different effects you are seeing
with the HUD (the overlay for the system volume change). When that
overlay shows up you know iPeng has shut down and then the volume
slider will no longer have an effect. Directly, that is.
