I would like to find a simple way to install an audio driver on my system which will output sound via WiFi to a streaming player on another computer where the other computer is hooked to my stereo system. This would eliminate the need to have anything plugged into my speakers on my present notebook. For small messages I could just use the notebook speakers. When I am listening to an album they would be played through the software on the stereo system.
Will SqueezeBox do this? I installed the software on my computer but it seems to run rather slow and take up significant resources. Does SqueezeBox run in Pearl? I was thinking that perhaps VLC could be set up to stream output to another computer, but what I would really prefer is just a device on the system which when selected would automatically forward sound to another computer by streaming compressed MP3 files via WiFi. Does such a thing like this exist?
