Please check the cross fade settings for the player. Crossfade does NOT work, at least not in the sense of fading music in and out (it's because replay gain is not supported) but the Crossfade time is being used.
Gapless works, although I found it hard to find mp3 material that is truly gapless but whenever I get very brief pauses in iPeng the same is true for my Squeezeboxes. I did finally find a few albums where it does indeed work fine.
