Thanks for your quick reply, I am using kernel version 3.2.12. All
through these issues I have been running quite recent kernels.

Is there some file with a setting I could just test a few different
buffer sizes, or something similar?

(One more piece of information is that when I have rebooted, I can often
play a few songs without problems, but then the problem starts and
escalates.)
