Thanks for the update.

That is a bit confusing because the latest plugin is set up by default
to try the file types in the following order:
*AAC > FlashAAC > FlashMP3 > WMA* and none of the other settings puts
WMA before AAC.  There does not seem to be a way for it to try the WMA
before it tries AAC other than by selecting -just- WMA.

I actually think my problem was different as when it could not transcode
AAC the plugin was dropping back to WMA, which played fine.

Somebody from Synology has confirmed to me that the latest Synology
packaged version of LMS installs a "different" version of FAAD
(apparently by design - not explained) that cannot transcode AAC - so my
problem was specific to the Synology NAS line and nothing to do with the
iPlayer plugin.  Replacing the FAAD file with the one provided by
Logitech solved the problem.
