go to the Logitech Media Server web interface (in my case, in a web
browser, enter 
http://192.168.1.18:9000

(change the 192.168.1.18 to the IP address of the PC running your LMS;
or if you are on the same computer running LMS and it is a windows
machine, right click on the LMS icon in the tray, then select "web
control" (or something similar, I'm doing this from memory).

Either way, get to LMS via web control, then click on SETTINGS (lower
right side of screen), then the first tab is basic settings, select this
and on this page you see the scanning options. Change to "clear and
rescan" and let it run. 

p.s. How did you ever scan in your own music if you didn't know how to
access the scanning option?  What are you running LMS on?
