Hi everybody and Pippin

Long-time iPeng for iPhone/iPod fan here!

This is a question/request about handling of compilations. In short:
using iPeng on my iPhone/iPod, compilations are not displayed in line
with LMS Web Remote Control - which is how I think they should (?) - and
would prefer them to - be displayed, if at all possible please.

My compilation configuration is not the default. Instead, I use "List
compilation albums under each artist" in LMS Server Settings, all my
compilations are tagged with COMPILATION=1, and I give useful Album
Artist names such as Warp Records Compilations, Soundtracks, Free
Magazine CDs. This means under Artist view, I can select these useful
names rather than wade through hundreds of Various Artists albums. It
also means individual artists are always listed separately too, which I
personally find sometimes useful.

So, what's the problem? Well, in LMS Web Remote Control, if I select
Artists > Soundtracks > Trainspotting, then - as you would expect - each
track is displayed with the individual Artist tag, e.g. Brian Eno, Iggy
Pop. This is in the view before pressing play - just browsing.

In iPeng however, in the same view, all the tracks are instead displayed
with the Album Artist, e.g. Soundtracks. (Although this in fact isn't
the case if I set the server to group compilations - subverting them all
under Various Artists. In this case, iPeng does indeed display the
individual Artist tags in the same view)

(I also noticed that conversely - this time in both iPeng and LMS Web
Remote Control - if I go to e.g. Artist > Iggy Pop, then under the list
of albums, Trainspotting will be listed with the Artist name Iggy Pop,
rather than the Album Artist name Soundtracks. I would personally expect
the latter, ie Soundtracks, and would find it more useful in order to
distinguish original albums vs compilations. Maybe I haven't thought it
all through, but shouldn't it be kept simple - a list of albums
prioritises displaying Album Artist - and a list of tracks displays
Artist?)

Cheers
ff
