To get rid of the nagging upgrade message I now want to uninstall, but can't do it without upgrading first So where does LMS stores the installed plugins and keep track of what's installed, I have searched high and low on my nas but can't find it?
The problem you're facing is neither that particular plugin, nor LMS managing it. It's a missing module the plugin manager needs to read the plugin archives.
Did you recently update your system? Because with that issue you shouldn't be able to install any plugin at all (except the LMS pre-installed ones, of course).
I know that there's some flag in the SSOTS settings to tell it whether it should use the modules provided by SSOTS or those installed with LMS. Make sure you use the latter option.
