Is there no option to tell LMS never to rescan unless I explicitly ask it to? This is quite important for custom scan users.
And Erland, apologies for not noticing some earlier responses from you. I've no idea why I missed them. My main question is whether there is some reason why the multilibrary 'standard' library id might change from 1 to 6 or 7 without me asking it to? It really has happened twice in the last month (to 6 the 1st time, and to 7 the 2nd time). The first time had me stuck for a day or so until I realised what I should look for - none of my non-classical library menus worked. Having rest the id to 1 I didn't even need to rescan my standard library - it was all OK. LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16->24 bit, 44.1->192kbps. LMS & Squeeze2upnp (Beta - derived from squeezelite) to Musical Fidelity M1 CLiC and Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers. Squeezelite to PC sound. Minimserver (server) and upplay (control point) to same amps & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers. Meridian USB Explorer DAC from PCs to speakers/headphones. Wireless Xubuntu 14.04 laptop controls LMS/upplay via Firefox.
