I've put together a short script that might assist with launching
ffmpeg/avconv. It draws from earlier scripts posted on the main iPlayer
thread over the last few days.

The script will run one of ffmpeg or avconv, whichever is found. ffmpeg
is the first tried.

It also includes a curious (to me) 'broken pipe' catcher that resolves
the problems I had suffered from with older versions of ffmpeg not
dieing out when they should. I still don't know why this works, but it
is working on my stock Debian Squeeze system on SheevaPlug (arm5tel).
I'd try it on my Raspbian Pi, but I don't have LMS set up for it.

There may yet be errors in it, I am strictly a hackateur, but it might
be helpful, in some form or other.

And if any perl/linux guru can tell me why the 'pipe catcher' works, I'm
all ears !
