This sounds like it may be a resampling problem. I don't think it's SB Player's resampler, since that works on the decoded PCM and should affect every format on every device. The FireTV box's mp3 decoder may be trying to resample the audio to 48Khz, but failing. On my Nexus devices, I know the system decoder resamples 22050Hz AAC files to 44100Hz before outputting the decoded audio to the app, but it doesn't do it for mp3's.
