Since the problem seems to be specific to that device, there really is no way for me to diagnose the cause. The closest thing I have is a Kindle Fire HD 7 (4th gen) and it doesn't exhibit the problem, though it is running FireOS 5.0. Maybe FireOS 5.0 on the FireTV would fix it. Even if it doesn't, SB Player should run a lot better since it would be based on Android 5.0 which uses the ART Runtime.
