Me too.

When I first started with Tidal and found several versions of the same
album , many remastered (ie in theory better), I took a second digital
feed from my Transporter and plugged it through some waveform analysis
software.

Typically the remastered version was both hotter and also compressed...
and this was on classic Jazz albums!!!!. So even these revered albums
were not immune from the loudness wars.

So it is a quandary... go for an older release or the "better"
remastered one?

On a side note, to some degree the CD quality streaming services can
make hi-res (ie higher than redbook) seem somewhat irrelevant. In my
case, I can get into Jazz artists that I wouldnt normally spend money on
and I dont care if it is "just" redbook.... its just great I can listen
to them at good quality.
