Right. hi-res is a non issue for me; I've read enough test reports to believe it's not possible to differentiate from 14/44.1
But even with the official versions of albums, there's lots of confusion. From my limited reading about Getz/Gilberto, we have at least 3 official versions: one mono, two stereo ones, one with reversed channels, one with "correct" channels, but hugely annoying extra bass. And they're all from original, official sources. that's bad enough, but then you have to waste time identifying those three from all the other rip-off out-of-copyright hacks, with appalling sound. and then decide which to listen to, of the three "proper" ones. sigh. choice is great. Then decide to listen to "Kind of Blue"; if it weren't for there being only one marked "Legacy", I'd not even bother. But is it the real one? :) apols for dragging OT: the basic point is that a larger catalogue has its drawbacks too. e.g. the OP might wish for a merged Tidal/Deezer catalogue, until it results in 27 different versions of the allegedly same album, many of them poor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cdmackay's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=24816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104908 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
