The real challenge is how you would convince yourself that there is no
Maker. Have you decided that not believing in a "Maker" is a sensible thing
to do after you have sufficiently dug into scientific facts? Or have you
decided not to believe in a "Maker," regardless of where the facts may point
to? If the Maker is indeed there, you would have no grounds to even say
something like "those who don't believe in the Maker." Moreover, I am not
really proposing that anyone believe in the Maker because scientific facts
have now reached a point that mere "belief" would be an understatement
regarding the level of recognition we can achieve about our Maker. Once a
mere belief is promoted to a robust recognition, we can begin to interact
with our creator in very interesting ways.

Kamran,

"Instead of searching for or even assuming extra
terrestrial life or beings, we should do more to recognize our Maker and
figure out what he (excuse the gender thing) is up to." What do you suggest
those who don't beleive in the "Maker" should do to "recognize what he is
doing and figure out what he is upto?"

Suranee,

I don't know anything about Buddhism, but I do know that the physical laws
are the same everywhere in our physical universe and since there is abundant
evidence and rational inference of scientific facts that these laws are
non-discerning and only act as the superstructure of the physical universe
and thus could not have in any way put the information-based nano-machinery
of life together on this planet earth, then they are pretty much as impotent
everywhere else in the Universe when it comes to manufacturing the machinery
for life. So if there are any "Extra Terrestrial Beings," elsewhere they
would have to be placed there by the same Maker that has put us here.
Whether our Maker would have custom designed another planet for life, as he
has done the earth, and repeated the picture of life elsewhere is something
to be discussed and argued for. So far I don't see why he should repeat
the same project elsewhere. Instead of searching for or even assuming extra
terrestrial life or beings, we should do more to recognize our Maker and
figure out what he (excuse the gender thing) is up to.

Kamran,

"I am here to challenge atheism and views that claim that life and its
various formations are natural/autonomous outgrowths of the physical
constitution of our universe."

What about Buddhism? Do you think there's a connection between Buddhism and
Extra Terrestial Beings?

I am here to challenge atheism and views that claim that life and its
various formations are natural/autonomous outgrowths of the physical
constitution of our universe. I would also like to discuss a whole host of
other historic, political and international topics and ideas, all of which
would eventually have a linkage with the truth behind human existence and
future path; or as close to the truth as we can rationally infer. If you
think these ideas should be moderated, then I have no place here.

Please let me know.

I wonder why my piece on God's Will was not posted. Can anyone tell me how
the moderation, if any, on this list works?

This religious brainwashing really is the opiate and dumbing down
of believers in belief. Jews who rejected circumcision and intermarried
with Gentiles were considered evil by the religious bigots - not much
unlike those orthodox Jews today - and if you want an example of their
bigotry go to the Israeli National Radio website and read the claptrap
there. Hellenization happens again, though now it is assimilation to
European and American culture. (Donnella: Antiochus turned Jerusalem into
a Greek city, not a Roman city)

I'll take Zeus any day over Yahweh. Anyone who wants an accurate account
should read Maccabees II. The Jews were warring on each other like the
Sunnis and the Shias war on each other. Mix in some Christian Crusades and
you have creeds which can only appeal to the certifiably insane.
