Kat glanced over at Julia, "french fries are made from potatoes and those
are vegetables," the child objected.
"But they aren't green so get yourself some green beans or a small salad..
either that or we'll have to get something like brussle sprouts and that
doesn't taste too cool with chicken fingers." Julia replied dryly before
slipping her hand under the table and finding Derek's, squeezing it a little
and starting to push out her chair and excusing herself "I'll be right back.
Just want to do the clean up before dinner thing."
She motioned a little with her head for Kat to follow, doubting the eight
year old bothered to do it since leaving the zoo.
"Oh my yes," Ingrid said, standing herself and nodding at the guests
"Teaching's a fine profession.. if you'll excuse me I should clean up as
well."
Reese grinned, liking the nun but already having done the clean up thing at
the house. Once they were gone she turned to Doctor Rayne, admitting with a
touch of humor "After hearing a couple of stories from Pops here, and no
disrespect intended, but I find it kind of funny that your sister is a
Sister."
"Of course," she admitted as the drinks were brought by and she took a sip
of her iced tea "She isn't like any nun I've come across in my Catholic
school days. Although they might give Sam here flash backs."
She chuckled a little and took another drink as she looked in the direction
the three had gone and asking "Do you by any chance know what Julia has
intended for today with my.. erm training?"
Julia opened the ladies room door for the others and went in after, going to
one of the four sinks there and washing her hands.
Ingrid did the same, watching her from the corner of her eye as she then
went to go dry off her hands and offering her towels to do the same.
"Thanks." Julia said, drying her hands and looking back at Kat who was at
the far end sink.
"Are you okay?" Ingrid asked, having noticed that they had all stopped the
teasing talk with the new people at the table and a kind of quiet from both
Julia and Derek.
"I'm fine." Julia said, putting the paper towels in the waste bin and giving
her a half smile. But if that woman tried hanging off of Derek again.......
"Ready Kat?" she asked over her shoulder, giving Ingrid a quick grin before
opening the bathroom door again.
