She was right, but Derek was reluctant to go in. Somehow it seemed like
leaving a comfortable place and going back to the real world. It just
seemed too soon. However, at least he wasn't going back alone as he'd done
so many times in the past.

"I suppose so," he agreed though it took him a moment to get moving. Derek
stood up and took Julia's hand helping her up as well. Then he started
towards the house holding her hand securely in his.

Julia laid her head against his arm and walked with him as they entered the
house and passed through the now empty kitchen "Maybe we can make a habit of
sneaking there in the evenings when we can, hmm?"

They made it to the stairs and started up. Since it was hours after Kat had
eaten dinner she was bound to be in bed and she whispered to Derek that she
wanted to look in on her, just peek from the door to make sure she had
gotten to bed all right and was sleeping.

It only took a couple of minutes and sure enough Kat was asleep.

"She's worried about what you're going to say to her." Julia said once they
were heading up to the third floor, tone quiet "She thinks you're angry at
her.

"Not the worried kind of angry that we were." she clarified, squeezing his
hand and lacing their fingers together, reminded again of how close she had
come to losing him and Kat.
