The creature dropped and he landed hard on the floor scrambling ot his feet.
The other vampire was close and lunged for him just as Nick tossed the
sword. Derek put all of his attention on that and managed to catch it
somehow. He swung it throwing all of his weight behind it and decapitated
the second one. He then headed for the enterance as fast as he could. The
adrenaline he felt masking the aches and pains in his body. Once they
reached the SUV, Derek looked at Nick and said one one word, "Now." He
wanted that place gone, immediately before anymore could get out.
Nick didn't have to be told twice and thumbed the secondary control he had
taken from the vehicle, at the same time tugged Derek so that they were on
the other side for some cover and the crypt exploded in a resounding blast
and ball of fire that sent every single scrap of crypt, land and underground
into thousands of little pieces.
"Whoa!" he yelped before ducking, a vampire's arm hitting the hood of the
SUV. Then he straightened and looked at Derek sheepishly but with a boyish
grin "Think I used too much?"
At least the cement and mortar missed the vehicle.
