Derek smiled slightly at Nick, "Maybe just a bit too much," he agreed, "but
it was effective." He was startled by Milo's sudden voice and apology.
"Sorry for what?" That made no sense the man hadn't done anything to be
sorry for, at least not that Derek knew of...he frowned then.
"What did you do," he asked slightly suspiciously. He was cut off by the
ringing of the cell phone. "I'll get back to you in a minute..." he hurried
to open the car and get the phone. He didn't make it until the after the
third ring.
"Derek Rayne," he said sound a bit breathless from his run out of the crypt.
The relief Julia felt was so strong it was literally like a save hit her.
It took a moment to find her voice before holding the phone close to her ear
"Thank God... "
Then she became aware of Sloan and his expression and so held the majority
of her outer reaction at bay "Did everyone make it okay?"
She was sure he would pick up on her deliberate evasiveness in relief and
the way she said what she had so she added to explain it "Sloan... is here.
So is your mother although I haven't seen her yet."
