Derek walked beside her towards the house, his hand resting on her shoulder.
"It wasn't you're fault Alex. You couldn't have stopped what happened. And
as for Claire and Brady, they got involved with something they had no
business playing with. What happened to them would have happened whether
you subcombed or not." They then entered the house to find a whole group
waiting for them.
Alex just looked at both men, not commenting. Nick came to Derek's side
once they reached the door, having closed the UV doors after everyone had
gotten out, and put his arm around Alex's shoulder and giving Derek a half
grin "I'll take over from here if you don't mind."
Alex couldn't meet Nick's gaze.
"Hey," Nick quipped softly, hugging her gently "I would be upset if you
tried biting another guy's neck and you let me go. You broke through their
control the first time and I know you would have done it this time too.
Let's get cleaned up and get ourselves fed okay?"
They had just entered the house and Alex spotted Julia at the stairs "Okay."
She wanted to talk to Julia and so went with Nick toward the stairs,
stopping at the foot of it and looking up at her friend with a torn,
apologetic expression.
