"I take it ye made a decision?" he asked, looking at the two curiously.  The look Julia had had earlier was nowhere to be seen in her gaze now and Derek looked as happy as a lark.   Derek was sitting next to her and close enough that she could slip her hand on to his leg without being obvious and gave it a little squeeze as she grinned. She'd leave it up to him this time, since she was the one that did the other announcement.  If he wanted to wait to say something she wouldn't mind, nor would she mind the other way.   Just then Barbara entered the kitchen and saw them all there "Well hello there.  Someone forget to invite me to the indoor picnic?"   Gone were the outward signs that she had just warned Sloan off of making trouble or promised him a fight if he insisted on going the route he chose.  In its place was a wry smile as she went to the table and opted for the chair next to Kristin and across from Philip.
