After finishing with the photographer he hung up and smiled at Julia.

"Well that's all set. Now, there's only one more thing I need to do." He
removed a box from the breast pocket of his jacket and took something small
out of it. He then took hold of Julia's left hand and slid ring on it. It
was 24 karat gold with a diamond cut sapphire twinkling a vivid blue in the
middle. A very simple but elegant ring. The way the stone was set you
could barely see the setting holding it in place at all, but it was on there
firmly.

"For our engagement," he told her kissing her gently. "Even though you were
the one to ask me," he added teasingly.

When he reached into his pocket she blinked. When he opened the box she
blinked and looked at him. She hadn't expected a ring, especially
considering the wedding was today.. but hadn't even thought of an engagement
ring to begin with.

She looked down as his hands moved to hers and slipped the ring on her
finger. She had to swallow past a sudden lump in her throat as she then
moved her hand to hold his. She was sure he could feel it shaking as she
lifted her gaze to his and half laughed as she ran the forefinger of her
other hand under her eyes to wipe the tears there.

"You, umm, sure know how to surprise a girl." She whispered before leaning
forward and raising both her hands to cup his face and kissing him. Julia
had to fight the urge not to admit she had gotten him a surprise too, only
because she wanted him to have it first before he knew.
