"There are proceedures for investing these sorts of charges. You
can't just go barging in there, it could be dangerous. Though I have a
hard time believing Jane would ever do such a thing to anyone. These
accusations much be investigated and not by you, you're too close to
it." There was something else too. Kristin talked as though she
wanted to stay, however she was ready to run back to Boston on a
moments notice. This wasn't the first time she'd done this either.
She'd done it to Jane when she went searching for her father and to
Derek when she took off to go back to Boston. She needed to make up
her mind
"Have you even spoken with anyone at the house," Derek continued.
"Someone
who's there now...who's been there the entire time?"
"You mean other than Amber?" Julia asked, hoping Derek would pick up
on what
she was trying to point out. Maybe Philip and Kristin could go as a
friendly visit to the House.... or did Amber have anything still over
there
that they could use as an excuse, to maybe pick up?
Kristin shook her head. "Not yet."
There just hadn't been time; Amber had talked to her when the council
was investigating Julia-Kristin had barely had the time to let the
issue sink in. Her mind was flying in a dozen different directions,
and she had to bite back the impulse to argue Derek; although she
realized he had his reasons for not wanting her to investigate, she
thought that because she was so close to the issue, she would be able
to get an idea very quickly about what was wrong with Jane.
