Just to give a heads-up and ask for reviews on the port of LXQt desktop environment attached.
Also in openbsd-wip: https://github.com/jasperla/openbsd-wip/tree/master/x11/lxqt LXQt is a lightweight desktop environment based on Qt5. I wanted to test it on OpenBSD given that I find KDE and GNOME well mantained but with to much dependencies... I wanted something lighter and nicer than XFCE also. I think that LXQt delivers that. I ported all the applications from LXQt, except for: lxqt-admin, is not very welcoming so I just ignore it: message(WARNING "OpenBSD is not supported by lxqt-admin-user") message(WARNING "OpenBSD is not supported by lxqt-admin-time") Same for qps (qt process manager). Both apps doesn't seem to fit in the OpenBSD ecosystem anyways... I think that the port is usable as it is, but need help with: - Testing in other systems (only tested on amd64). - Checking Makefile formatting and methodology, is there something loose ? - Testing the "applications", I'm just testing mainly the DE, not the small apps. - REALLY looking for someone who understands better about the .desktop files and xdg-dirs. I'm not sure about lots of these files locations by default. - Checking the patches that I made to the C++ code, I'm more like a php programmer. :) - Someone writing better DESCRs and README? I made a mailing-list in googlegroups as the KDE Porting Team did. So... avoiding spam and going smooth if someone wants to join the effort: MAINTAINER ?= LXQt porting team <[email protected]> It was hard porting this because my lack knowledge about several points, I hope this gets to the CVS in some moment, but I am really happy with the result myself. LXQt was pretty friendly with the paths and several things, seems that the thought about *BSD porting and making the project easy to handle for us. Only "patch" needed for paths was about searching apps in "/usr/bin" instead of "/usr/local/bin". I guess that's about it. Waiting for feedback. Please, avoid desktop environment wars in this thread. :D So much work for 31KB ? :( Cheers. Elias.
