I'm coming to this thread late, but would like to contribute my $0.02. I really hate CUPS (flame war begins...). I find most networked printers these days are smart enough to accept PDFs to their lpr port. Which means in firefox, I just print to pdf and then throw it at lpr (if and only if I want to cut down trees). I don't think I am really contributing to this thread, but thought I'd let you know what I do and my preferences would be to not to see anything CUPS related installed as a dependency. Maybe a post-install printed message wouldn't offend me, but to say Firefox needs CUPS I totally hate. Once again, as a simple user these are my thoughts. Please do not be offended. Timothy
