Well, I saw these posts from its start but I didn't want to
participate in since it's an already ended story, and it seems that
you and Alan are the only ones who are (actively?) complaining
about the new StandardConfiguration.
BTW, I'm quite happy with the StandardConfiguration, and
I guess that most newbies would be too, especially in view of PP's
support of "/" as a path delimiter and ?c...c. (BTW, I can tell I'm
sort of a newbie since I've used PP only for a bit more than 1 year.)

I think Exec.QuoteEscape("off") would confuse the newbies hopelessly,
on the contrary. If " is the only one to be escaped, then,
Exec.QuoteEscape("off") & ESC(expr) might be another choice.
But, tell me whether I have to enclose the following in ESC() or not:
pickfile(file.listfiles("C:/Temp/"),"Test")
If I have to enclose it in ESC() when Exec.QuoteEscape("off"),
do you really think newbies will be able to easily track down
the need of ESC() if pickfile(file.listfiles("C:/Temp/"),"Test")
won't work?

BTW, I'm wondering now why MS uses "\" as the escape char in registry
in spite of the fact that they had chosen non-standard "\" as a
path delimiter.

Why? Because of the new escape char "\"? If a newbie indeed did,
I can bet he'll never use *.reg files either.

What mess?
I can't see any mess at all myself in StandardConfiguration.

Do we really need another poll again?
