This likely a bug that is activated by something in your
configuration. Specifically, PowerPro just disappearing without
even the crash box asking about notifying MS is a symptom of stack
overflow, which usually happens if there is an recursive, "infinite"
function call.

The fact that it happens sometimes and not others means it is
possibly related to some events having to happen at precise times.

One option you have that could be lead to this (although I don't see
how for now from looking at the code) is the "unroll notes when
mouse over them" option. Try unchecking it. Does that help?

I have tried checking this option and creating and then closing or
rolling many notes, but the crash never happens for me.

About how often do you think it happens for you? Every 2nd note
close? Every 10th close?

Another thought: are you using hook lists or autorun command lists?

What version of Windows?

Any other utility-type programs running?

If unchecking the option does not solve the problem, then please try
switching to the default configuration (ctrl-left click bar, change
configuraiton dsubmenu default). Add a hot key to create a note and
see if PowerPro will do with repeated openings and closings of a
note.
