Hi CM (ehathgepiurhe) I'm not surprised that PowerPro is unresponsive while Nero is burning a CD. No doubt other programs are unresponsive too.
During a CD write, Nero must give itself a high priority so it will not be interrupted. You can interrupt a write by a file manager to a hard disk because it is written in chunks (allocation units). There can be a pause of several minutes between writing chunk 5 and writing chunk 6 with no damage. You cannot interrupt a write to a CD because it is written as a continuous stream and cannot do a pause and restart. As Slawomir suggested you could give PowerPro a higher priority but I think it would be wiser to just not try doing other stuff during a CD burn - unless you have a use for unreadable CDs :) The file comparison program has less need to be non-interruptible. Its programmer decided to write it that way. Either get a different file comparing program or put up with having to wait until it is finished. > Another instance of when I want my PowerPro bar to appear > is if a particular process has hung, using up 100% of the CPU. > In that case, I want to bumpthe top of the screen so my PowerPro > bar appears, so I can open up my task manager to kill it. > In most cases like this, PowerPro will just not respond. Hardly surprising that Powerpro will not respond in that situation! Try Ctrl+Alt+Del to show Windows Task Manager and kill the hung process. Or if you prefer to use a different task manager try assigning it a hot key such as Win+T which is probably an easier interruption than using a bar. ------------------------ Yahoo!
