I didn't do any of the tests taht you suggested because this problem disappeared in version 4.7.03c; did you do anything to fix it? FWIW, the registry key on the offending PC was HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop REG_SZ 0 (null) while on another PC it was HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop REG_SZ 162 C:\Documents and Settings\sgp\Application Data\IrfanView\IrfanView_Wallpaper.bmp
