I don't know for sure, but lspci may enlighten you:
$ lspci | grep ICH4

Some devices are the same on ICH4 and ICH4M as you can see, but the ISA
device really gives it away, this looks like I've got an ICH4M.
But I don't know if you can trust this completely, so if you find
another way to tell let me know ;)
And ATM I don't really care what exactly it is, because it's working as
it's supposed to...

# grep hpet /proc/timer_list
Clock Event Device: hpet

I really like this stuff, my CPU goes into C3 for up to 80ms...

This really is beautiful. Pentium-M 1400 with a patched 2.6.22-rc3 (I modified
the 2.6.22-rc4-hrt2 with sed 's/-rc4/-rc3/g'). Now I'm down from about 50 wps
to about 27. The cat and grep outputs look just like yours.
What I can't tell is whether I have ICH4 or ICH4M - how do I find out?
