I have a PowerPort Platinum Pro which also has an Ethernet NIC in it. When
I tried to update it the software said I couldn't update it either. Mine
is a Japanese version. The installer that came with it was in jumbled
(since I don't have the Japanese Language Kit installed). The card itself
has a "J" prefix on the part number and IIRC shows a J or something such
when I check on the firmware version. I'm guessing that this might have
something to do with it not being updateable.
