Yes, the 3400c is a beautiful machine. I am a cautious/conservative computer user for I live far from expert help when things go wrong. I use OS 8.1 without a problem(and have done so for 4 years) and have read consistently on this list that 8.1 is good on the 3400c. I have 144MB RAM and advise you to go for as much as you can afford - but I think 144MB is the maximum on this laptop.[Someone who knows both 8.1 and 8.6 on the 3400c might help you choose which of these two is better for your 3400c] I use the browser Netscape 4.78 and admit it is becoming very slow on some pages. I disable automatic image loading and that helps. I have not used iCab but have downloaded it while I listen for comments or problems in installing etc (told you I was cautious), so I was glad to hear your comments on that browser. I use BBEdit Lite 4.6 (freeware on to cope with cleaning up emails and web pages. I use Simpletext and Corel WOrdperfect for word processing. I am happy with this set-up. Maria Mallacoota -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
