I haven't hooked it up yet, but I acquired a useable laser printer that will work with my 1400c. Working serial color printers are harder to find, though.
I think hooking up a USB/parallel printer _directly_ to a 1400 is impossible (I'm hoping this statement will inspire someone to prove me wrong). There is no device or software to allow that to happen. Sorry state of affairs, but that's how it is. You'd think there'd be a way to use the PCMCIA slot to do it, but not on a 1400 because it's only a 16 bit slot, and I haven't seen a 16 bit card with a parallel printer interface. However, if I hook up a USB printer to my G4, can't I serve it to the 1400 on the ethernet connection? Uh... will I need PowerPrint to do it? Most people have laptops as a supplement to their desktop anyway. They just need a modem with an ethernet connector, which, of cours, _will_ work on the 1400.
