2 hours is very good--you're fortunate. As to the sudden shutdown, I started getting
that reaction when I bought a new battery a while back. I have no idea why.

It is a 1995 Apple batt so it could just be old. Is there a way to

Look in the Apple Extras folder if you've got one--Battery Recondition should be
there. There's also a shareware program called Battery Amnesia that some people claim
works better, but I've never had good results from it. (The author of that program
also makes a nifty program called MyBattery, convenient if you have more than
one--http://www.kezer.net/mybattery.html)

If not, are ebay & similar

I bought two of these a while back--they did not hold a full charge. They would drop
from 60% to 20% rapidly, and did not respond to software reconditioning. Still, it's
convenient to get an extra hour+ of battery time, and they go for $15 or so new on
eBay. I read somewhere that you shouldn't get the Panasonic branded ones--Apples are
plentiful.

Yes, they get very warm. Not a problem, be glad there's no noisy fan.
