Try a 500 series, where the market price of the book is about 30%
of the price of a new battery.
You can find good batteries for the 1400 on ebay for less, and I
was lucky the one time I bought a good one for a friend for US$35. It was
a Seattle supplier, but I've lost his e-mail address.
