If you don't have anything with SCSI ID#2 on the IIvx you're fine. Any
duplication of ID#s stops the process.
Shut down both machines. Link the IIvs SCSI port on the back with
the HDI-30 port on the 1400. If necessary, you can use an external drive
through the Centronix 50 jacks on the back to make cables match up, as
sometimes you'll have the wrong SCSI cable to fit.
\ Boot the 1400, till you have the diamond SCSI on the display. Boot
the IIvx, and if you're lucky, the 1400 hard drive will appear on the
monitor as an icon underneath the hard drive icon on the right side. If
that doesn't do it then you might have a termination problem. The easiest
way to cure that is to add an intermediate external drive, and use
terminators on the Centronix 50 end of the cables on the intermediate
drive. Make the intermediate drive a CD-ROM, and you can probably use it
to install a new system if needed.
If you get it to work, then open it up like any other external hard
drive by double clicking it's icon and work on the system folder in the
1400. I'd trash any CD-ROM extensions, and disable any startup items.
Good luck.
