Here's what it says on the www.Nisus.com web page:

"Nisus Writer 4.1.6 is not compatible with Mac OS 9.1 and above if you
are connected to an AppleTalk or TCP/IP network, or if AppleTalk is
turned on by default on your Mac (AppleTalk is on by default on every
Macintosh). If you are not connected to a network and AppleTalk is on,
the workaround is to make AppleTalk inactive.

"If you need to be connected to an AppleTalk or TCP/IP network, you
will need to download the latest version of Nisus Writer."

I don't know what the problem is, and I don't know if they count a ppp
connection as a TCP/IP connection.  (Come to think of it, I don't know
if I do or not...)  I wouldn't be *too* surprised if it were a conflict
with the ethernet extension.
