You don't need a good battery to run on AC. (Some models need a battery in the slot, but it can be dead.) I'd recommend waiting until you get the power brick and check it that way. The 180 is a nice bit of Apple history, but not worth investing much in as the parts cost could very easily equal the price of a newer, more usable with newer software, Mac.
