Recent discussion here reminded me of the great deal on these at DMS, so naturally I bought two. Well, at the introducory price that would have been about $800, but nowadays it's only $7.95 each. : -)
The 5300 into which I installed has an old 1.3 gig drive upon which I recently installed 8.6 (via localtalk booted with a floppy, just to prove it can be done, thank you!) I have the MV 1.0.2 and 1.0.4 Installers plus the MV-EN 5300 Updater v2.0 beta. After installing the v104, no ethernet options show up in AT and TCP/IP. Next I installed the 2.0b updater, no go then either. I haven't tried the OS8.1 that was on the HD when I got it, nor any other OS so far. I may have been hallucinating, but I would swear I read here of using these darn things with later OSes. Reality check please! Dan K -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
