Hi, all, I happily received a new replacement battery for my 1400cs this week and I am having some trouble charging it. I know that it can take a couple of times of charging, discharging and recharging for it to reach full capacity. I'll describe problems below and try to be brief. I apologize if I am jumping the gun and missing something really obvious; this is my first time trying this.
I'm running OS 8.1 (in case that makes any difference in how the battery level indicator looks). When I first insert the new battery with the AC plugged in, it gives me one or two "white bars". Then, it goes back to all grey. The little lightning bolt showed up for about half an hour, initially, and then it give me the "battery with a plug" indicator -- and the bars were not fully white (Though the little spedometer-looking dial showed up and was on green.) First time I put the battery in for about 4 hours, it looked like it was charged, and then I ran on battery power until it shut down. It took less than 10 minutes. Now I am confused because I do not see any progress on the control bar -- and still, after 10 minutes or so, I get the "battery with plug" indicator, not the battery with lightning bolt indicator. Still, no white bars, just gray. I do not have a manual for this machine and the Help that is on it does not really help, so any help would be appreciated. The battery is new, third party, a "Hi Capacity" brand 9.6 v 3500mAH NiMH bought from ebatts.com. I've switched out AC adapters with my other 1400 because mine I suspect to have a short but am still having the same problem of the battery acting like it is charging in 10 minutes -- when it is not charged at all. This is the first "new" battery this machine has had, so any assistance in this adventure is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.
